Ancient Olympia
Olympia was a sacred place in antiquity, dedicated to Zeus,
where quatriannual games in the god’s honour took place, the renowned Olympic Games.
Olympia was an ancient Greek sanctuary site dedicated to the worship of Zeus,
in whose honour Pan-Hellenic Games were held every four years from 776 BCE to 393 CE.
Olympia was a national shrine of the Greeks and contained many treasures of Greek art,
such as temples, monuments, altars, theaters, statues, and votive offerings of brass and marble.
